With this feasibility report, the aim is to uncover thematic routes in Batman, an important destination within Mesopotamia, focusing on culture, trekking, and butterfly watching. The project seeks to brand the city within the scope of special interest tourism, highlight the region’s tourism potential, and assess the feasibility of implementing innovative, region-specific ideas in the tourism sector. Ultimately, the project aims to contribute to the economic and socio-cultural development of the provinces specifically and, more broadly, to the national development goals of the country. The specific objectives of this project are outlined below:
· To determine culture, nature, and butterfly watching routes within the framework of Batman's cultural, trekking, and butterfly watching elements, and explore unknown areas.
· To eliminate the information pollution about Batman tourism found on various websites.
· To reveal the existing tourism potential of Batman (culture, trekking, and butterfly watching).
· To evaluate potential investments related to tourism (marketplaces, campsites, cultural heritage restoration, creating social-recreational areas, etc.) in terms of risks, efficiency, and economic returns.
· To provide guiding ideas and recommendations to tourism stakeholders for sustainable tourism.
· To enhance Batman's tourism attractiveness to increase the tourism potential of the Mesopotamia brand.
· To raise awareness in the tourism sector and contribute to the emergence of new entrepreneurs.
· To create a website, www.batmanekoturizmrotalari.com.tr, to promote and map the newly discovered routes, and integrate rural and urban, nature and cultural values into the tourism framework on the website www.mezopotamya.travel, ensuring their integration with the main destination networks.
· Despite butterfly watching being a significant route example globally in recent years, it has not been practiced in Turkey. In this context, to brand Batman as a pilot city for this activity.
